Mexican Prison Tattoos As his criminal career expands, he gets further tattoos commensurate with his status in the gang. These tattoos have a sub-cultural language that is all their own, featuring unique inscriptions alien to all but the initiated... and law enforcement agencies.
Some of the inscriptions on the tattoo will indicate:
1) The gang emblem.
2) The person's identity. This is rarely ever the birth name of the individual, but rather, their street name.
3) The criminal acts the person has committed on behalf of the gang.
